Navy grants one million rupees as compensation to family members of Leading Patrolman JAD Nandana
The Sri Lanka Navy donated one million rupees as compensation under its healthcare scheme, ‘Naviru Saviya,’ to the family members of the late Patrolman JAD Nandana, who had succumbed to his injuries sustained in an accident. The cheque in this regard was handed over in terms of the Naviru Saviya constitution to the legal beneficiaries of the compensation, his mother, J.A. Gnanawathie and wife, R.M.K.L. Rajapaksha at his residence in Polpithigama, Kurunegala, today (03 November 2017).
The sailor had joined the Navy on 18 November 2003 and served at various naval establishments prior to his untimely death at the age of 33. He had last served attached to SLNS Tambapanni in Puttalam.
"Naviru Saviya" is a health care scheme, which operates as a non-public fund under the direct supervision of the Commander of the Navy. It provides financial assistance to its members and their families during death, critical illnesses, permanent and partial disability, general illnesses, surgery and medical tests.
