Navy commences a boat service for Gateway students
The boat service provided by the Navy for the convenience of the students of the Gateway International School in Battaramulla was inaugurated today (01 November 2017) under the patronage of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe. The Navy intends to provide a congestion-free convenient mode of transportation for the students residing in Nawala, Rajagiriya and Battaramulla through its novel project.
Three naval craft have been deployed for the service, each transporting 40 students at a time. The Chairman of the Sri Lanka Land Reclamation and Development Corporation, Mr. Asela Iddawela, the Chairman of the Road Development Authority, Mr. Nihal Sooriyarachchi, the Advisor to the Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development, Mr. Vidya Amarapala, the Director General Operation, Rear Admiral Piyal de Silva and several officials were also present at the inauguration of the boat service.
