Sri Lanka Navy hands over 6 more fishing trawlers back to India
On completion of repair work, the Sri Lanka Navy handed over 6 more Indian fishing trawlers back to India today (20 October 2017). They had been seized by the Sri Lanka Navy for poaching in the Sri Lankan territorial waters. A total of 32 Indian fishing trawlers, which were in Sri Lankan custody, have been handed over to the Indian government since 30th September 2017.
The six trawlers, were escorted to the IMBL north of Sri Lanka by the Sri Lanka Navy Ship Ranawickrema and handed over to the Indian Coast Guard Ship Rani Gaidinliu.
