Field medical clinic held in view of 62nd anniversary of SLNS Elara
SLNS Elara organized a field medical clinic for the people resident in Kareinagar in view of its 62nd anniversary.The clinic was held at the Divisional Hospital in Kareinagar yesterday (05 October 2017).
As part of the Sri Lanka Navy’s Cooperate Social Responsibility project, the noble initiative was carried out in partnership with the Jaffna Teaching Hospital and the staff of the Regional Director of Health Services in Jaffna, under the guidance of the Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha De Silva.
More than 383 patients on Karainagar Island in the Jaffna peninsula benefited from the clinic. The Director of Jaffna Teaching Hospital, Dr. T. Sathyamoorthi and the Regional Director of Health Services in Jaffna, Dr. K. Nandikumar also participated.
Several consultants and specially qualified professionals in curative medicine provided their services with the assistance of paramedical staff. Screening for non-communicable diseases and treatments for child health problems, oral/dental diseases, old age health problems, ante-natal care, women health care and laboratory investigations were made during the clinic. Patients were also issued with medicine as well as spectacles free of charge.
