Navy hands over 5 more fishing trawlers back to India
On completion of repair work, Sri Lanka Navy handed over 5 more Indian fishing trawlers back to India today (03 October 2017). The 5 Indian fishing trawlers were seized by the Sri Lanka Navy for poaching in the Sri Lankan territorial waters. Accordingly, total of 12 Indian fishing trawlers have been handed over to the Indian government since 30th September 2017.
The 5 Indian trawlers were escorted to the IMBL north of Kankesanthurei by the Sri Lanka Navy Ships Parathapa and Edithara II and handed over to the Indian Coast Guard Ships Abheek and Ameya.
