SLN divers undergo training in UXO recovery
The divers of the Sri Lanka Navy successfully completed a training programme on Underwater Unexploded Explosive Ordinance (UXO) Recovery conducted by the members of the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 5 of the United States Navy. The programme, held at the Trincomalee harbour from 04th to 22nd September, was aimed at building confidence and enhancing the knowledge of SLN divers.
Certificates for course participants were awarded by the Deputy Commander Eastern Naval Area, Commodore Merrill Sudharshana, the Command Diving Officer (East), Captain (CDO) Krishantha Athukorala and Lieutenant Andrew Heymann of the US Navy EOD Mobile Unit 5. Special plaques were also exchanged between the EOD Mobile Unit 5 of the US Navy and the Diving and Salvage Unit (E) of the SL Navy as tokens of goodwill and friendship.
