Navy renders assistance to transfer critically ill fisherman ashore for prompt treatment
Naval personnel onboard SLNS ‘Jayasagara’ attached to the Southern Naval Command rendered assistance to transfer a critically ill fisherman, aboard a multiday fishing trawler, ashore for prompt medical treatment today (20, August 2017).
The multiday fishing trawler named ‘Sasmika Putha’ had gone for fishing from the Beruwala fisheries harbour on 14th July and the fisherman onboard suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. Upon information disseminated by Beruwala Police over this incident, the Navy dispatched SLNS Jayasagara to bring back the patient ashore.
Accordingly, the patient was safely transferred to the naval ship in the seas about 54 nm off Galle Lighthouse and brought to the Galle harbour. Subsequently, he was rushed to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital, Galle for further treatment.
