Navy joins hands with 'Apima Arambamu - Dengue Duralamu' national drive
 

As per the government directives and under the coordination of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Office, the Navy joined hands with 'Apima Arambamu - Dengue Duralamu' (Let us begin ourselves to eradicate Dengue) national drive a few weeks ago. Going by the directives of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, Sri Lanka Navy continued to render its assistance for this national cause in all naval commands.

Stepping further ahead with this timely initiative the Navy went onto back the three-day dengue prevention campaign which commenced yesterday (July, 28) in all schools throughout the island. Accordingly, naval personnel threw their fullest weight behind this initiative of the Ministry of Education and cleaned up 17 schools in the Eastern Naval Command, 08 schools in the Northern Naval Command, 06 schools in the Southern Naval Command, 05 schools in the North Central Command, 04 schools in the Western Naval Command, 02 schools in the Southeastern Naval Command and 02 schools in the Northwestern Command.

Apart from that, dengue prevention programmes are being continuously carried out in all naval premises and naval personnel actively participate in dengue eradication programmes in a bid to ward off this menace form the country.
