Eight Indian fishermen arrested for poaching in Sri Lankan territorial waters
 

Fast Attack Craft belonging to the Northern Naval Command arrested 8 Indian fishing poachers engaged in illegal fishing activities in Sri Lankan territorial waters, about 15 nm north of Point Pedro today (July, 21). Along with the poachers a fishing trawler was also taken into custody.

Upon bringing the arrested fishermen, fishing trawler and fishing gear to the naval base, SLNS Uththara in Kankesanthrei, they are due to be handed over to the Jaffna Assistant Fisheries Director for onward legal action.
