Two JMSDF ships arrive in Colombo harbour
 

Two Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF) vessels arrived at the Colombo Harbour today (July, 20) on a good will visit. Sri Lanka Navy welcomed the two ships in accordance with naval traditions on their arrival.

Among them, IZUMO is the Flag Ship and the biggest vessel of the JMSDF. The ship which is 248 m in length and 38m in width, has a crew of 970 naval personnel. Captain Yoshihiro Kai is the Commanding Officer of the IZUMU.

Meanwhile, JMSDF SAZANAMI is 151m in length and 17.4m in width, comprised of a crew of 175 naval personnel. Commander Hirotaka Okumura is at the wheel commanding the ship.

During their three day official visit, the Japanese naval personnel onboard two ships are expected to engage in a number of events organized by the Sri Lanka Navy. Besides, they will also take part in some friendly football matches and cultural events during this tour. Furthermore, the two navies are scheduled to combine in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) exercises as well. The vessels will leave from the country on 23rd July.
