Two suspects arrested with slaughtered dolphins
Coast Guard personnel attached to the Southern Naval Command apprehended 2 suspects who hunted 2 dolphins and were transferring their meat for trade, today (July, 15). Dolphins are marine mammals that are prohibited to be slaughtered.
The suspects were apprehended while they were engaging in this illegal venture using 2 motorbikes at Kudawella locality, Tangalle. It is believed that these dolphins had been killed by the fishermen and brought to the coast by means of a dinghy. The arrested suspects along with 2 dolphins were handed over to the Department of Wild Life Conservation -Kalamatiya for further investigation.
