Navy declares open another RO plant for community use
Another Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant devised by the Navy Research and Development Unit declared open for community use at Kandubodagama, Polpithigama today (July, 08). Following a visionary concept of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, the Navy installs RO plants in areas where high prevalence of Kidney Disease is recorded.
The system which is capable of producing clean drinking water for 475 families in the region, has been sponsored by the Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease. Further, the new installation possesses the capacity of processing 10,000 l of safe drinking water per single day.
As a result of the technological innovation and expertise of the Navy Research and Development Unit, they have set up 227 RO plants in different parts of the country, facilitating over 107,985 families and 80,185 school children with clean drinking water. Besides, the Navy is determined to continue this noble effort into the future, in a bid to be a sigh of relief to the people battered by the renal disease.
