Navy nabs 5 persons engaged in illegal fishing
 

A group of naval personnel attached to the North Central Naval Command, during a routine patrol, apprehended 5 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing using unauthorized fishing nets in the seas off North of Mannar yesterday (1^st, July).

Along with the fishermen; 2 dinghies, 4 unauthorized fishing nets and 37.5 kg of fish-harvest were taken into naval custody. The apprehended fishermen, fishing gear and the stock of fish were handed over to the Assistant Directorate of Fisheries, Mannar for onward legal actions.
