Western Naval Command secures championship in Inter Command Men’s / Women’s Basketball Tournament
 

The Inter Command Basketball Tournament 2017 of the Sri Lanka Navy was held from 18th to 22nd June at SLNS Gemunu basketball court. The Western Naval Command, in men’s final, recorded an impressive win, beating the Eastern Naval Command by 45-69 points on 22nd June.

Director General Operations, Rear Admiral Piyal De Silva won the award for the best player of the tournament for his exceptional performance in the tournament.

On the same day, the Western Command women’s basketball team sealed victory over Northwestern Naval Command in a closely encountered final by 39-44 points.

Director General Engineering, Rear Admiral Rohitha Premasiri graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. A large number of officers and sailors from all naval commands also flocked at the SLNS Gemunu basketball court to witness the finals.
