Six Indian fishermen apprehended for poaching in Sri Lankan waters
 

Six (06) Indian fishing poachers and a bottom trawler were arrested by Sri Lanka Navy Fast Attack Craft, in the Sri Lankan territorial waters, 15 Nm off Talaimannar Lighthouse yesterday evening (24, June).

Accordingly, an SLN patrol craft attached to the North Central Naval Command, whilst engaging in routine patrol, has apprehended the Indian poachers and the trawler in Sri Lankan territorial waters.

Upon bringing the apprehended Indian fishermen, their fishing trawler and other fishing gear to the naval base SLNS Thammanna, they are to be handed over to the Talaimannar Assistant Fisheries Director for further legal action.
