Navy renders assistance to distressed fishing trawler in northern sea
 

Responding to the distress call, naval personnel on-board a Fast Gun Boat (FGB) attached to the Northern Naval Command rendered assistance to a fishing trawler ‘Sudeepa’ along with 3 fishermen aboard, in the seas approx 5 Nm West of Delft Island today (June,15).

The trawler which had gone for fishing on 14th June from Gurunagar Jetty, Jaffna had experienced an engine failure and was adrift in the sea.

Accordingly, SLNS ‘Prathapa’ sailed to the location and safely towed the vessel to the shore Thereupon, the naval personnel attended repairs to the defunct engine.
