Navy continues to render assistance for canal cleaning in Kelaniya
 

Sri Lanka Navy is currently engaging in several cleaning efforts at various sites in Kelaniya, to face-off possible flood threat that could pose during possible heavy downpour in the following months.

Having carefully earmarked the sites, a group of over 115 naval personnel have been deployed in cleaning of several canal sights such as Dlaugama Junction, Old Kandy Road, Wanathamulla, Thalagapatha, Meegahawaththa, Peliyagoda, Wanawasala Railway Station and Duthugemunu Mawatha, Peliyagoda in Kelaniya locality.

The initiative that kicked off on 1st June at the directives of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, had been well supported by the Land Reclamation and Development Corporation and Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha.
