Navy declares open a Reverse Osmosis plant
Yet another Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant produced by the Navy Research and Development Unit was declared open today (2) under the patronage of the Commander North Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Rasika Dissanayake in Wellawa, Kurunegala village. Under a visionary the concept of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, this noble social responsibility project is being carried out facilitating the general public with clean drinking water.
The financial allocation for this meritorious act extended by the Navy and accordingly 625 families are benefited from this effort. Further the Navy’s Research and Development Unit has installed this plant using their knowledge and technical skills. The Navy had thus far installed 204 RO plants across the country providing safe drinking water for over 101,415 families and over 75,000 school children. Further, the Navy is determined to continue this noble effort into the future, in a bid to serve communities who are deprived of safe drinking water.
