Navy apprehends a local fisherman engaged in illegal fishing
 

Naval personnel attached to the North Central Naval Command apprehended a local fisherman engaged in illegal fishing using unauthorized fishing nets in the Vidattalativu sea area yesterday (19).

Along with the suspect, 2 traditional boats (Wallam) and 7 monofilament nets were also taken into naval custody. The arrested fisherman, boats and fishing nets were handed over to the Assistant Directorate of Fisheries in Mannar for onward legal action.
