Navy grants compensation of one million for the family of Petty Officer YPNR Weerasinghe
The Sri Lanka Navy, yesterday (27), donated Rs. 1 million as death compensation under the Navy's healthcare insurance scheme, "Naviru Saviya," in behalf of the late Petty Office (Diver) YPNR Weerasinghe who died while following his foreign training course in India.
Director General Operations, Rear Admiral Piyal De Silva, handed over the cheque, to the wife of the deceased senior sailor at their residence in Mawathagama, Kurunegala.
"Naviru Saviya" is a health care scheme, which operates as a non-public fund under the direct supervision of the Commander of the Navy. It provides financial assistance to its members and their families during death, critical illness, permanent and partial disability, general illness, surgery and medical tests.
