Navy renders assistance to rescue a French national in Southern Seas
Following information disseminated by Hambantota Port Control MRMRP, a group of naval personnel attached to the Naval Deployment, Hambantota rendered assistance to rescue a French national and his yacht encountered a distressed situation in the seas off Koholankala Saltern, Hambantota yesterday (25).
The rescue mission was joined by 2 Inshore Patrol Craft (IPCs) and a group of navy divers. The yacht, while on its course from Trincomalee to Galle, had suddenly been dragged towards the shore having developed a fault. The assistance of the Department of Wildlife Conservation was also sought to rescue Mark Andre Francois, the French national.
