The Sri Lanka Navy, under the able leadership of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, conducts a wide range of community service projects for the benefit of the needy population in different parts of the country. The installation of Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants is one of the many noble efforts of the Navy, implemented in areas where a high prevalence of kidney disease is recorded. Making progressive strides with this initiative, an RO plant recently installed at St. Mary’s Church in Kayts was ceremonially declared open today (16).

Bishop of Jaffna, His Lordship Rt. Revd. Dr. Justin Bernard Gnanapragasam who was present at the opening ceremony highly appreciated this noble effort which is being implemented by the Navy throughout the country in view of saving the poor communities from the deadly renal disease. Further, he extended sense of gratitude to the Commander of the Navy for addressing this long felt need at the St. Mary’s Church in Kayts. In parallel with the proceedings of the ceremony, the Rev.
