Navy declares open five more Reverse Osmosis plants
The Research and Development Unit of Sri Lanka Navy helped installing five more Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants in different parts of the country where communities struggle to find purified drinking water as an initiative to fight with highly spreading kidney deceases within the area.
In line with these objectives, the Sri Lanka Navy declared open five more RO plants manufactured by the Navy’s Research and Development Unit for the community use at the villages of Damanayaya in Dambulla , Kudagama, Halmillewa and Mayingamuwa in Anuradhapura, Thabbowa in Puttalam, Thissapura in Medirigiriya.
Accordingly, around 1200 families in Damanayaya, 620 families in Kudagama, 550 families in Halmillewa, 520 families in Mayingamuwa, 520 families in Thabbowa and 570 families in Thissapura will be benefited providing clean and safe drinking water.
The Sri Lanka Navy, on par with far sighted leadership of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, has been installing RO plants around the country where kidney deceases are rampant due to lack of available water resources to meet purified drinking water needs of the community within the region.
Thus far, The Sri Lanka Navy has installed a total of 190 Reverse Osmosis plants in different parts of the country till date, facilitating 90,046 families and 70,200 school children with safe drinking water.
