Visit of SLNS Samudura and Suranimila in India
The Sri Lanka Naval Ship Samudura and Suranimila left the Colombo port for a goodwill and training visit to India on 04th of this month.
During the visit, the ships’ crew engaged in a range of naval exercises including, Firefighting and Damage Control, Station Keeping by Distance Line, Towing, Vessel Boarding and Search and Seize.
On 6th April the ships arrived in Kochin port. Upon their arrival, the two Commanding Officers of the ships, Captain Jagath Premarathna and Captain Rohitha Abeysinghe called on the Flag Officer Commanding in Chief Southern Naval Command, Vice Admiral AR Karve and Flag Officer Sea Training, Rear Admiral MA Hampiholi and held cordial discussions. Mementoes were also exchanged to mark this occasion.
The official tour also made way for the ships’ crew to visit Indian Navigation School, ASW School, Signal School and Gunnery School. Having completed a successful series of tour events, the two ships are scheduled to sail back to Sri Lanka from the Kochin harbour.
