SLNS Sayura receives attention at LIMA 2017
 

The Sri Lanka Navy Ship ‘Sayura’ which is attending the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA-2017), yesterday (23) took part in a Fleet Review and a Food Festival organized as part of the exhibition. During the Fleet Review, the contribution of ‘Sayura’ drew special attention of the Malaysian Defence Minister Hon. Hishammuddin Hussein who graced this occasion as the Chief Guest. The occasion was also attended by the State Minister of Defence, Hon. Ruwan Wijewardene and the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy, Rear Admiral Sririmevan Ranasinghe. Forty one ships representing 17 countries took part in the Fleet Review which was in display in front of an august gathering consisted of representatives from different parts of the world.

Besides, SLNS Sayura had made all the arrangements fascinatingly ready for the Food Festival as well. The event was participated by 12 countries and the Sri Lankan food stall was the centre of attention among the rest. The Defence Ministers of both countries shared a light moment and tasted the Sri Lankan food varieties. Australia, Bangladesh, India, Philippine, Japan, Pakistan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Italy were among the other countries that took part in this event.

Moreover, the cultural display presented by the Navy oriental band made the evening more colourful and received high praise from the distinguished invitees who attended this event. LIMA 2017 is scheduled to be concluded on 26th of this month.
