Northern Naval Command conducts another field medical clinic in Mawadipuram
As part of the Sri Lanka Navy’s Community Development and Social Responsibility project, the Northern Naval Command conducted a field medical clinic for the newly resettled persons of Mawadipuram Model Village, Kankesanthurai on 19th March 2017. It was held under the patronage of the Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha De Silva.
Patients belonging to 135 newly resettled families at Mawdipurum village benefited from the clinic and they appreciated the Naval Community Development and Social Responsibility work being conducted in the Jaffna peninsula.
Naval medical staff attached to the Northern Naval Command provided basic treatments for acute and chronic illness, adolescent /old age health issues, child health, antenatal health issues and women health care. Patients who needed specialized care were referred to the Teaching Hospital Jaffna.
Further, screening for chronic non communicable diseases was also carried out in a bid to ensure early identification of diseases. Medicine and nutritional supplements for the clinic were provided free of charge with the assistance of Thriposha Lanka Ltd and State Pharmaceutical Corporation (SPC).
