Northern Naval Command conducts field medical clinic on Karainagar Island
As part of the Sri Lanka Navy’s Community Service and Social Responsibility Project which is operated under the supervision of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunartne, the Northern Naval Command conducted a mass scale field health clinic at the Divisional Hospital on Karainagar Island on 10th February 2017 with co partnership of Teaching Hospital, Jaffna and Regional Director of Health Services, Jaffna. The health clinic was organized under the patronage of the Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Piyal de Silva.
More than 567 patients on Karainagar Island in Jaffna District were benefited from the clinic. The Director Teaching Hospital, Jaffna Dr. T. Sathyamoorthi and Regional Director of Health Services, Jaffna Dr. K. Nandikumar also attained this event.
Several consultants and specially qualified professionals in the fields of Pediatrics, Obstetric/ Gynecology, General Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology [eye], General Medicine, Endocrinology, Oncology assisted this field medical clinic with the support of paramedical staff. Screening of diseases and treatments were given for child health problems, oral/dental disease, old age health problem, antenatal care and women's health at tertiary care level including all laboratory investigations and medicines free of charge at this clinic in a patient friendly manner.
