Two more Reverse Osmosis plants bestowed upon community

The Sri Lanka Navy has been implementing a wide range of community service projects, going by the visionary leadership of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne. Out of which, the installation of Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants in areas where high prevalence of kidney disease is recorded, has been recognized as one of the many magnanimous projects undertaken by the Navy. Accordingly, two more RO plants set up at the villages of Track 15 and 16 in Rajanganaya were bestowed upon the community today (26).

The two new facilities are capable of processing safe drinking water for 600 and 475 families in Track 15 and 16 villages respectively. The financial assistance for the installation of 2 RO plants was extended by the Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease and the Sri Lanka Navy’s Research and Development Unit had produced these RO systems utilizing their expertise and technological know-how. Incidentally, the Navy has installed a total of 115 RO facilities across the country to date, facilitating over 51,530 families and 43,850 school children with safe drinking water provided free of charge. The Navy is determined and will continue to set up more RO plants in due course as well.
