Two more Reverse Osmosis plants declared open for community use

Yet another programme of the Navy’s community service project which is operated under the visionary leadership of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, came to its successful end today (16) at the Uyilankulama Police Station, Mannar and in the village of Ethulgama in Thirappane with the opening of 2 more Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants for the use of the general public.

Accordingly 35 Police personnel attached to the Uyilankulama Police Station and 90 families in close proximity to that Police Station now have the access to safe drinking water. In the same vein, over 650 families in the village of Ethulgama have also been provided with safe drinking water facility by the Navy. The financial assistance needed for these projects was given by the Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Kidney Diseases and the facilities were produced utilizing the expertise of the Sri Lanka Navy’s Research and Development Unit.

The Navy installed a total of 102 RO facilities across the country thus far facilitating 46,810 families and 40,600 school children with safe drinking water. The undying attitude of the Navy towards the installation of more RO facilities in different parts of the country will predominantly contribute to eradicate the renal disease from the country.
