Commander of the Navy inspects VNF Annual Camp Divisions
 

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne inspected the divisions of the Volunteer Naval Force Annual Camp held at the Welisara Naval Complex Grounds today (16). 

The Sri Lanka Volunteer Naval Force is the main arm of the Sri Lanka Navy with naval training, vigilant in readiness to provide expertise and manpower in times of national urgency and distress. It supplements and provides the Regular Naval Force with required assistance in the execution of tasks entrusted to the Navy. 

The VNF Annual Training Camp which was commenced on 4th January 2017, is annually conducted to update the knowledge and skills of Volunteer Naval Force personnel who are not mobilized in active service.This customary event is also comprised of the Commander of the Navy's Divisions, Ceremonial Parade and vivid cultural show. 

The Commander of the Navy in his address, reminded that Volunteer Naval Force was the inception of the Navy and noted that the force is performing a praiseworthy job as never before for the progress of the motherland. Besides, Vice Admiral Wijegunaratne expressed his admiration of the exceptional talents of VNF personnel who have brought honour to the country through their skills and expertise in various fields. He also commended their positive contribution to safeguard the territorial integrity of the motherland and develop the nation. 

The Chief of Staff of the Navy Rear Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe, the Deputy Chief of Staff and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Neil Rosyro, the Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha De Silva, Derector Generals, senior naval officers and the Commanding Officer VNF, Commodore Titus Kannangara were also present on the occasion.
