Navy pledges its commitment for nation building being united under one flag
Commencing the proceedings of the Year 2017 on an auspicious note, Naval personnel pledged their commitment for the process of nation building being united under one flag. They made this pledge when they took the oath of allegiance to public service on 02nd January 2017, the first working day of the year, at a ceremony presided over by the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne at the Naval Headquarters.
Addressing the Naval personnel, the Commander of the Navy wished all a happy and prosperous new year and commended the service they had rendered in the past year fulfilling the country’s aspirations. Quoting a saying of Lord Buddha, he also emphasised the way of performing one’s duty and importance of performing the same with honour and dignity. Moreover, Vice Admiral Wijegunaratne expressed that we all should fulfil our duties with true sense of responsibility, efficiency and effectiveness in order to achieve the development and prosperity of the motherland. Also he expressed his anticipation in obtaining the fullest cooperation of all naval personnel to reach the said goals.
The occasion was also attended by the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy, Rear Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy and Commandant of the Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Neil Rosayro, Director Generals, senior officers, sailors and a large number of civil employees of the Navy.
