Northern Naval Command conducts another field medical clinic in Eluwathivu Island
As part of the Sri Lanka Navy’s Community Development and Social Responsibility Project, which is being conducted under the directives of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, the Northern Naval Command conducted a field health clinic at the St. Thomas Catholic Church, in Eluwathive on 31st December 2016. The field health clinic was held under the patronage of the Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Piyal De Silva.
As a result of this timely initiative, a large number of newly resettled civilian in Eluwathive Island in Jaffna District were benefited. Besides the local community in the island sector highly appreciated the naval Community Development and Social Responsibility measures carried out in the Jaffna Peninsula.
During the clinic, treatments were given for acute and chronic illness, adolescent and old age health issues, child and antenatal heath issues and primary level women’s health care, by Naval medical staff. Meanwhile the patients who needed specialized care were referred to Teaching Hospital Jaffna. The Medical Officer of Analathive District Hospital, Dr. K.Maheshwari also extended a praiseworthy contribution in conducting the clinic successfully. Screening for chronic non communicable diseases was also done with basic laboratory investigations to ensure early identification of diseases among the community. Medicine and nutritional supplements required for the patients were provided free of charge by the Thriposha Lanka Ltd, State Pharmaceutical Corporation (SPC), Hemas Pharmaceutical and Interpharma Ltd.
