Commander of the Navy participates in the Japan – Sri Lanka Defence Dialogue held in Colombo
Reinforcing security ties with Japan, the Japan-Sri Lanka ‘Defence Cooperation Dialogue’ was held at the Ministry of Defence in Colombo today (20). At the invitation of State Minister of Defence, Hon. Ruwan Wijewardene, a Japanese Defence Delegation attended this event. Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne also participated in this year’s dialogue.
During the meeting, the representatives from Japan and Sri Lanka extensively discussed range of defence matters of mutual interest and bilateral importance. The dialogue also turned out to be an important platform for participants of both countries to carry out extensive deliberation on salient defence matters.
The occasion was also attended by State Minister of Defence, Hon. Ruwan Wijewardene, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi, Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Kolitha Gunathilake, Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishantha De Silva, Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy, Japanese Defence Attaché to Sri Lanka, Lieutenant Atsuhiro Morore, senior officials from both defence ministries and military representatives from both countries.
