Navy wins the National Wrestling Championship for the 17th consecutive time
 

Sri Lanka Navy won the National Wrestling Championship which was held at the new Sports Ministry Indoor Complex from 30^th November to 03^rd December 2016. Accordingly, the Navy wrestlers managed to clinch the title for a record 17^th consecutive time in its history.

The tournament was participated by many renowned wrestling teams including Army, Air Force and Police. However the Navy emerged overall wrestling champions beating all teams with a tally of 6 Gold Medals, 3 Silver Medals and 1 Bronze Medal. The winning team met with Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne at the Naval Headquarters today (5). Commander of the Navy extended his congratulations over the significant achievement of the Navy wrestlers. Further Vice Admiral Wijegunaratne expressed his deep sense of appreciation to all officers and sailors of the Navy Wrestling team for their strong commitment to reach this brilliant feat.
