Interest-free loans granted to 90 senior sailors
Going by a visionary concept of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, another phase of granting interest free loans, worth Rs. 500,000/= each, for senior sailors was held at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium of Naval Headquarters today (2).
Accordingly, cheques worth Rs. 45 million were granted to 90 senior sailors under the patronage of Commander of the Navy, to coincide with the 66th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy which falls on 09th December. Meanwhile the Navy had granted a total of Rs. 325.5 million to 741 senior sailors as interest-free loans to date. The Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe, Deputy Chief of Staff and Commander of the Sri Lanka Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Neil Rosyro, and Director Generals were also present on the occasion.
