Navy apprehends 7 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing
 

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Buwaneka located in Nachchikuda in the North Central Naval Command arrested 7 local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing activities using monofilament nets in the seas off Iluppukadawai yesterday (23).

Along with the suspects, 2 traditional boats (Wallam) and a monofilament net were taken into naval custody. The apprehended persons and belongings were handed over to the Directorate of Fisheries, Mannar for further investigations.
