Eight navy- made Kayak Boats handed over to the Army
 

Eight Kayak Boats, produced at the Inshore Petrol Craft Construction facility in Welisara of the Sri Lanka Navy, ceremonially handed over to the Sri Lanka Army at Sri Lanka Army Special Forces Training Camp in Maduru Oya on 19th November 2016.

Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi attended this ceremony as the Chief Guest. Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Chrishantha De Silva, Colonel of the Regiment, Special Forces, Major General Mahesh Senanayake, the Director Naval Training and Chairman of Rowing and Canoeing sports, Commodore Priyantha Perera and senior officers from the Army and Navy also attended the occasion.

These boats are expected to be utilized for the training purposes of the Sri Lanka Army Special Forces. Addressing the event, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence highly appreciated the efforts of the Navy in building these boats at relatively low cost but in keeping with the highest standard. The Special Forces personnel of the Sri Lanka Army also conducted a mock war exercise by means of the Kayak Boats. Mementoes were also exchanged to signify the importance of the occasion.
