Navy arrests 4 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing without valid permits

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Vijaya located in Kalpitiya in the North Western Naval Command arrested 4 local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing activities without valid fishing permits in the coastal area of Norochcholai yesterday (15).

Along with the fishermen; 2 dinghies, 40 nets used for fishing practices were also taken into naval custody. The arrested persons and items were handed over to Assistant Directorate of Fisheries, Puttalam for onward investigations.
