As part of the Sri Lanka Navy’s community development and social responsibility projects implemented under the visionary concept of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, the Northern Naval Command conducted a field health clinic at the Ayyanar Preschool on Analaitivu Island on 6th November 2016. The programme was held under the patronage of Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Piyal de Silva.

A large number of civilians residing in the isolated Analaitivu Island which is situated far away from the mainland of Jaffna Peninsula, benefited from this clinic. Local community residing in the Island greatly appreciated the efforts taken by the Navy to uplift their health conditions.

Meanwhile, treatments were given for communicable, non-communicable and respiratory diseases. The health issues of children, adults and women were also looked into during the clinic. Screening for chronic non communicable diseases was conducted with basic laboratory investigations to ensure early identification of diseases in the community. Medicine and nutritional supplements for the clinic were provided free of charge by Sri Lanka Thriposha Ltd, State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC), Hemas Pharmaceuticals and Interpharma Ltd.
