Five fishermen arrested for engaging in illegal fishing
 

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Gajaba located in Mannar belonging to North Central Naval Command, arrested 5 fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing activities using explosives in the sea area off South Bar in Mannar yesterday (5).

Along with the fishermen, a dinghy, 4 unauthorized fishing nets, 4 pairs of diving fins, 5 Goggles and 550 kg of fish were also taken into naval custody. The apprehended persons, items and fish were handed over to Assistant Directorate of Fisheries, Mannar for further action.
