The Sri Lanka Navy implemented yet another community service programme in Hambegamuwa, Monaragala focusing on the wellbeing of the general public in the area. Accordingly, a Reverse Osmosis system was installed at the premises of Aluthwewa Junior School in Monaragala with the intention of providing safe drinking water to the school children and civilian population in Hambegamuwa. At the invitation of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, the newly installed RO plant was declared open by the Uva Province Project Director, Mr. Jagath Pushpakumara today (26).

The Navy’s Research and Development Unit had set up 40 RO systems throughout the country thus far and facilitated more than 22,000 families and 16,000 school children with safe drinking water. Further they wish to continue with this noble cause in the future as well. The occasion was attended by Venerable Maha Sangha, officers, principal and staff of Aluthwewa Junior School and a large gathering of residents.
