H.E. the President declares open a newly built Relic Chamber and Alms Giving Hall at Rangiri Ulpath Rajamaha Viharaya in Gomarankadawala

His Excellency the President Maithripala Sirisena declared open a newly built two storeyed Relic Chamber (Dathu Mandiraya) and Alms Giving Hall (Dana Shalawa) and vested them in Sangha during a religious ceremony held at Rangiri Ulpath Rajamaha Viharaya yesterday (21). The ceremony was also attended by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne.

Subsequently, H.E. the President placed the Relic Casket in newly built Relic Chamber and offered flowers to it. Further he distributed ‘Pooja Bhumi’ title-deeds for 5 temples in the area as well. Venerable Maha Sangha including Maha Nayaka of the Amarapura Siri Saddhamma Wansha Nikaya, Ven. Ahungalle Siri Seela Visuddi thera, Minister of Sustainable Development and Wildlife, Hon. Gamini Jayawickrama Perera, Governor of the Eastern Province, Hon. Austin Fernando, senior officers from tri-services and a large number of residents were present on the occasion.
