Passing out of 42 Naval Artificers of the 12th Artificer Intake
 

Forty two (42) naval artificer apprentices belonging to the 12th artificer intake of the Sri Lanka Navy passed out at the parade ground of the Naval Institute of Technology at SLNS Thakshila located in Welisara yesterday (14), after the successful completion of their basic training. Deputy Chief of Staff and Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Neil Rosyro attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest and took the salute.

The ceremony also saw the sailors, who were outstanding in various spheres during their basic training, were awarded for their exceptional skills and commitment. Accordingly, Artificer HKS Weerasinghe was adjudged the “Best Artificer Apprentice” of the 12th Artificer Intake, having obtained the highest aggregate in all subjects. Artificer UBGHM Gunarathne received the award for the “Best Marksman”, meanwhile Artificer SMAS Senanayaka won the award for the “Best Sportsman”.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest of the event Rear Admiral Rosyro congratulated the 42 artificers being passed out for the successful completion of their basic training and highlighted the importance of serving the Navy and motherland with highest standard of professionalism and discipline acquired through their training. Also he emphasized upon the fact that the new artificers must lead their naval careers in a manner that the society and their parents can be proud of them, while preserving the goodwill of the Navy and motherland. Rear Admiral Rosyro also thanked all officer and sailor instructors of the Naval Institute of Technology for their untiring effort and commitment they had made to adopt this group of naval artificers. Director General Training, Rear Admiral Dimuthu Gunawardena, senior and junior officers, sailors and family members of the passed out artificers were present on the occasion.
