Rear Admiral Sarath Mohotty retires from 34 years of naval career
 

Rear Admiral Sarath Mohotty, who held office as the Director General (Naval and Air Operations) at Office of the Chief of Defence Staff, bade farewell to his 34 year long illustrious naval career today (14). Upon calling on Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, the officer was accorded with a Guard of Honour in accordance with the naval traditions.

Subsequently, the fellow naval officers accompanied him to the portals of Naval Headquarters in a customary vehicle fleet, and bade farewell to the outgoing Rear Admiral. The senior and junior sailors also gathered on either side of the road to pay their tribute to the retiring senior naval officer. Rear Admiral Mohotty joined Sri Lanka Navy in 1981 as an Officer Cadet of the 1st Intake of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy. During his highly decorated naval career, Rear Admiral Mohotty had served in many ships and establishments and imparted his wealth of knowledge gained through various foreign courses and engagements for the betterment of the Navy. The service he rendered to the Sri Lanka Navy and motherland, will be cherished and remembered forever in the naval history.
