Navy apprehends 14 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing activities
 

Naval personnel attached to Fast Attack Craft deployed in the Eastern Naval Command, arrested 14 fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing practices in the sea area off Illanthnttunu yesterday (8). Along with the suspects, 2 dinghies, 2 unauthorized nets and 2 diving fins were also taken into custody by the Navy.

Having brought the fishermen and items to the naval base SLNS Lankapatuna, they were handed over to the Assistant Directorate of Fisheries, Trincomalee for further investigations.
