Children of Divulapalessa Maha Vidyalaya donated with a Reverse Osmosis plant
Initiating the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, the Sri Lanka Navy has been implementing a large number of community service programmes focusing on the civilian population. As part of one such initiative, a Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant installed at Divulapalessa Maha Vidyalaya in Mahiyanganaya was donated for the use of children and civilians in the area. The new facility is capable of providing safe drinking water for over 350 families in the area and 500 school children.
Realizing the grave need for having more Reverse Osmosis plants in areas that are prone to Chronic Interstitial Nephritis, Sri Lanka Navy’s Research and Development Unit continues to install more RO systems with the financial assistance of Presidential Task Force on Chronic Kidney Disease Prevention. Accordingly they had installed 34 Reverse Osmosis facilities across the country thus far. Further, the Navy had initiated a timely progrmme to make the general public aware of Chronic Interstitial Nephritis in Agricultural Communities (CINAC) to coincide with the installation of RO plants..
