Coral Monitoring and Replanting Programme conducted in Trincomalee

The Blue Resources Team and Wild Life Research and Conservation Trust along with Tokyo Cement (Lanka) Plc, conducted a coral reef surveying method training workshop and coral planting programme for SL Navy Divers at the Coral Cove, Naval Base, Trincomalee.

The first stage of the training workshop was held from 23rd to 30th June 2016 and the 2nd stage which was started on 7th September is still in progress. Lectures and underwater training sessions were conducted in order to enhance the participants' knowledge on how to survey coral reefs in accordance with international standards and protocols. The divers were able to plant coral in Coral Cove area by using concrete coral reef casings which were donated by the Tokyo Cement (Lanka) Plc.
