Commander of the Navy meets Senior Military officials at the Pentagon USA
Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne met with the senior military officials at the Pentagon on Monday (26). Accordingly discussions were held with the Deputy Director for Politico-Military Affairs for Asia, Air Force Major General John T. Quintus, Director Strategy and Plans Division of US Marines, Brigadier General C. J. Mahoney, and Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Operations, Plans and Strategy Vice Admiral John C. Aquilino, at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. The discussions comprised of wide range of matters pertinent to training, sharing experiences, ship visits, formation of the Sri Lanka Navy’s Marine Battalion and matters of mutual interest.
Further, Commander of the Navy is expected to meet officials at the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters on Tuesday (27). The Sri Lanka Navy delegation was accompanied by Lt. Jacob F. English the Deputy Defence Attaché of the U.S. Embassy in Colombo.
The Director General Operations, Rear Admiral Dharmendra Wettewa, the Personal Secretary and Aide to the Commander of the Navy, Captain Buddhika Liyanagamge, accompanied the Commander of the Navy.
