Navy arrests 14 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing activities

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Vidura located in Sampoor in the Eastern Naval Command apprehended 14 local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing practices using monofilament nets in the sea area off Sampoor on 13^th September 2016. Along with the suspects 2 dinghies and 2 monofilament nets were taken into naval custody.

The apprehended persons and items were handed over to the Muttur Fisheries Inspector for onward investigations.
