Commander of the Navy donates a computer to a student who secured university entrance
Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne donated a laptop computer and a printer to HPM Prabath Jayasundara, a student of Orubendi Weva Maha Vidyalaya in Mahiyanganaya, at the Naval Headquarters today (6). The student, whose father is down with renal disease, had secured the university entrance after his excellence performance in G.C.E. Advanced Level examination 2015, to follow his higher education in Engineering. Realizing the plight of their family, Commander of the Navy paid his special attention in this regard and made the donation in view of assisting the tertiary education of the student.
Following a visionary concept of Vice Admiral Wijegunaratne, the Navy’s Research and Development Unit had built and installed 21 Reverse Osmosis Plants across the country thus far and will continue to set up more, in order to provide safe drinking water to the people who live in areas which are prone to Chronic Interstitial Nephritis. While protecting thousands of lives from renal disease, the Navy had implemented a wide range of programmes to look after the educational requirements of their children as well. This noble gesture of donating a computer and peripherals to the student is a fine example to that.
